This is a weekly meme where any one can choose a random book from their Goodreads TBR and highlight it. Once you choose a book and create your post, make sure you link and reference the creator, @Lauren’s Page Turners. Evetually, I will try to find a rhyme or reason to my choices, but for now, each week will feature a random one that I mean to read soon!
This Week’s Selection: The Royal We by Heather Cocks & Jessica Morgan
Rebecca Porter was never one for fairy tales. Her twin sister, Lacey, has always been the romantic who fantasized about glamour and royalty, fame and fortune. Yet it’s Bex who seeks adventure at Oxford and finds herself living down the hall from Prince Nicholas, Britain’s future king. And when Bex can’t resist falling for Nick, it propels her into a world she did not expect to inhabit.
Dating Nick immerses Bex in ritzy society, dazzling ski trips, and dinners at Kensington Palace with him and his charming, troublesome brother, Freddie. But the relationship also comes with unimaginable baggage: hysterical tabloids, Nick’s far more suitable ex-girlfriends, and a royal family whose private life is far more tragic than anyone on the outside knows. The pressures are almost too much to bear, as Bex struggles to reconcile the man she loves with the monarch he’s fated to become.
Now, on the eve of the wedding of the century, Bex is faced with whether everything she’s sacrificed for love–her career, her home, her family, maybe even herself – will have been for nothing.
This novel has been on my TBR shelf for well over a year and I keep meaning to get around to reading it. For 2021, I’ve decided to expand a little beyond posting only reviews and this felt like a good place to start since it’ll “force” me to actually look at the books on my TBR list that’s well over 1000 books long (and that’s not even all the ones I haven’t put on the list yet).
The Royal We is also a good novel for my first Goodreads post as it also fits in the Popsugar 2021 Reading Challenge that I’m doing (another first for me).
I’m trying to get through it this week, but other books keep coming first either because I’m trying to read them before their release dates and complete some of my ARC reviews or the other novels that I’ve started have just captured my interest a little more.
We shall see if I can accomplish my goal to finish this by the end of the week as time will tell and, if not, then at least I have it to pick up another time!
