Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
How it works: Each Tuesday will be assigned a topic and then you post your top ten list that fits it. Feel free to add your own spin on the topic to make it work for you! For me, I’m not sure the type of spin I want to put on it, so for now I’ll post fairly straight-forward responses.
I put this month’s topics at the bottom of the post, but you can find the whole list on the host blog. If you don’t have a blog, you’re welcome to participate using other social media or even by putting your list in the comments.
This Week’s Topic: Books Written Before I Was Born (These can be books you’ve read or want to read!) (submitted by Davida Chazan @ The Chocolate Lady’s Book Review Blog)
**You can select the cover of each novel to access their entry on Goodreads.**
FEBRUARY TOPICS:
February 2: Books Written Before I Was Born (These can be books you’ve read or want to read!) (submitted by Davida Chazan @ The Chocolate Lady’s Book Review Blog)
February 9: Valentine’s Day/Love Freebie
February 16: Purple, Yellow, and/or Green Book Covers (in honor of Mardis Gras, which is today!)
February 23: Books That Made Me Laugh Out Loud (Claire @ Book Lovers Pizza)
For the first Top Ten list of February, I went with books written semi-well before my time. The most recent release on this list is the Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring novel, which was well before the year I was born, but it fit with my theme of semi-classic novels that I willingly read on my own. This was the strategy for choosing my list as I selected novels that were not only published before I was born, but also ones that I would read and reread even if I was not required.

Great choices! I’ve only read Emma and The Great Gatsby!

Thank you! Shakespeare and George Orwell were required reading in one of my English classes and I just happened to enjoy both haha…for Emma and Gatsby, my friend lent me both so I got to read them that way 😀

I think Lord of the Rings has been on every TTT that I’ve read this week including my own lol 😀 I really need to get on with actually reading it!

Haha…at least we all agree that it was worth putting on the list. I hope you enjoy it if you read it!

Thank you! All of these books are constantly on my list for rereads, especially when I’m in the mood for a classic.

Nice list Etta. I studied and/or read six of them for school. Christmas Carol is one I read each year.

Thank you! I read most of these in school and have reread all of them multiple times. Christmas Carol, Lord of the Rings, and Emma are my almost yearly rereads! 😀
