This is a weekly meme where any one can choose a random book from their Goodreads TBR and highlight it. Once you choose a book and create your post, make sure you link and reference the creator, @Lauren’s Page Turners. Eventually, I will try to find a rhyme or reason to my choices, but for now, each week will feature a random one that I mean to read soon!
This Week’s Selection: The Reclaimed Kingdom (Syphon Series #1) by Dana Claire

Under the cruel ministrations of its Queen, the Kingdom of D’Land is in peril. With King Harrison away in foreign lands and neighboring Kingdoms unwilling to intervene, there is no one to protect the people from poverty, harsh punishment, and unreasonable rules of law – except for the Band of Brothers. Struggling with the death of her mother and the legendary Syphon powers she inherited, seventeen year old Dru wants nothing more than to escape her old life and join the motley crew of ruffians, pilfering from the rich to feed the poor and pay their taxes. She’s able to do just that disguised as a lad, and even when her nature is discovered, nothing changes – except for the way her friend Hawkin treats her. But Dru’s new world is overturned when she and the Brothers seize the treasures of a Prince who threatens to reveal her identity. Together, Dru and her chosen family must find a way to reclaim her destiny and bring balance to the Kingdom. If not, there may be no hope left for anyone.

The series was recommended to me as it was similar to the From Blood and Ash series. After reading through the description, the story sounded like fun with the added aspect of the main character hiding out from the evil queen with the Band of Brothers as it gave me Snow White from the Once Upon a Time series vibes. There is also the added part where are main character is disguising herself as a boy to better hide herself.
Normally, I am weary of starting new series as I have hundreds still on my list, but the slightly shorter page length means that I can easily try and fit this in more than I can a book twice its length. The added intrigue of a Syphon pulls me in as I am very curious how this novel will create this type of person and how the magic will be described. A fun series that I am willing to try and I hope it will turn out well!

ooo this sounds good if its like From Blood and Ash!

I’m almost finished with it and it is good so far! Not quite as great as From Blood and Ash, but it still is very entertaining. 🙂
