~ #SixForSunday: Books Set In Fictional US Towns ~

#SixforSunday is… it’s really just that. You choose 6 books (normally) that you’d choose to fit whatever the prompt is that week. This meme is hosted by A Little but a Lot and you can follow the link to find the prompts for January to March. I’ll also post this month’s prompt’s at the end of the post.

This week’s prompt: Books set in the country you live [United States]

1. Mistletoe and Mr. Right – Review

Alaska is an incredibly gorgeous place and is worth a visit to anyone who has never been and worth a revisit to those that have been before. Moose Springs is a fictional town, but, just like the other novels on this list, feels like it could exist and maybe just does not appear on a map. All three novels in the series showcase the quirky cast of characters that make up the population of this town. When you couple that with the beautiful surrounding scenery, it is an ideal place to visit.

2. The Secret of Dartwood Manor – Review

As I pointed out in my review, I tried to locate this town, but I only found one in neighboring Connecticut. It could be the same place or at least the town used for inspiration, but I was not able to find this place in Maine. This town had a beautiful northeast vibe that just sounded like a fantastic visit and I wish it were real.

3. Black Witch Magic – Review

This is another northeast town that sounded very real. It has a very Salem vibe, which fits with the story’s premise of magic and witches. The town had the perfect blend of “spookiness” with the hidden magic mixed with north eastern small town charm.

4. First Quiver (Cupid’s Fall #1) – Review

A place that seems very middle of nowhere, but has an excellent midwestern “hominess.” It does not hurt that this place has all the creature comforts of home, but there are gods and goddesses hidden around every corner at one time or another.

5. Choosing You – Review

Small town California near the Nevada border is absolutely breathtaking. The Sierras are an amazing setting and even though this town does not exist, you can easily find a similar one hidden along the different highways. If you have ever seen photos or have visited the Lake Tahoe region, then you know the atmosphere of this story.

6. Fairy Godmother’s Inc. – Review

Missouri is one state that I have yet to visit, but Ever After is a truly magical place. It does not hurt that it is an actual magical place with contemporary living. I would love live here and have the Godmothers and other fairytale-like characters be my neighbors without hesitation.

For this week’s topic, I went all around my home country of the United States. I did my own twist on it by only choosing novels that are set in towns/cities that do not exist (at least I could not find them on any map). All of these places are smaller towns that just seem to have great people and interesting scenery. If they existed, then I would easily add them to my travel list. My two favorites are Ever After, but that is going with the idea of magic existing. My other top choice would be Moose Springs as I love the Alaskan wilderness with the gorgeous scenery. The town of Moose Springs just sounds like a fun place to visit too! I might go the realistic route next week to go around the world or I might go all the way to fantasy as I have not decided. There are too many choices for these lists to choose from, which is both a good and bad thing when trying to narrow it down to six!
