#SixforSunday is… it’s really just that. You choose 6 books (normally) that you’d choose to fit whatever the prompt is that week. This meme is hosted by A Little but a Lot and you can follow the link to find the prompts for January to March. I’ll also post this month’s prompt’s at the end of the post.
This week’s prompt: Characters You Think Deserve A Holiday
**My choices are in no particular order. You can click on their covers to explore their Goodreads entries.**
1. Cottage by the Sea – Review
Annie experiences a horrific tragedy at the beginning of this novel. She has a lot of emotions to work through from this event and is one of the reasons I chose this character to deserve a holiday.
2. Lost in Translation – Review
Charlotte is “forced” to leave her comfortable life in the UK to move to Switzerland for her husband’s job. She experiences a lot of obstacles during her time there that are explored in the novel.
3. From Blood and Ash – Review
Poppy is going through life one way, but she starts to want more than just being the Maiden. She has a lot of learning experiences and discoveries throughout this novel. Her world gets turned upside down a lot with everything that happens to her and definitely deserves a nice relaxing vacation.
4. Nick – Review
Nick’s story before the events in The Great Gatsby were not always pleasant. This character has an emotional journey in his life before his move to West Egg. A character that is well-deserving of a vacation based on the events he experiences.
5. The Little French Bistro – Review
Marianne is stuck in a loveless marriage and is unhappy in her life. The novel is sort-of her taking her own vacation as she goes to a small French town to start over. Even with this, she still has a lot of obstacles that she has to overcome and is one of the reasons she ended up on this list.
6. The Song of Achilles – Review
My last pick for this week is Patroclus. A lot of his life revolves around Achilles and although he enjoys being around him, there are a lot of emotions that he goes through throughout the story. He is chosen as needing a holiday as he does a lot for Achilles and others, so it would be nice for him to get some time to himself to just relax.
March – Around the world in 80 books
7th – Books set in the country you live
14th – Books set elsewhere in the world
21st – Characters you think deserve a holiday
28th – Blue and green books
April – The Viper-inspired ones
4th – Books with snakes on the cover/in the title
11th – Magical books
18th – Fictional islands you’d like to visit
25th – Characters who would make great ships captains
This week’s topic was the most difficult for March as there are a lot of characters that deserve a holiday, but somehow my mind kept going blank when I was creating this post. I chose these six as they are the first six that came to mind as I was putting the post together. The explanations for exactly why I chose them were difficult, hence the reason they are short, as I did not want to reveal too much about the stories. I am curious to see what others choose for this topic as there are a lot of directions it can go and I love seeing what others write. Happy reading as we go into the fourth week of March!

Definitely agree with you on Patroclus!

Omg Patroclus really does need a holiday! He literally did everything for Achilles, so he should totally have some time to relax 😁
