~ Goodreads Monday: All the Stars and Teeth ~

This is a weekly meme where any one can choose a random book from their Goodreads TBR and highlight it. Once you choose a book and create your post, make sure you link and reference the creator, @Lauren’s Page Turners. Eventually, I will try to find a rhyme or reason to my choices, but for now, each week will feature a random one that I mean to read soon!

This Week’s Selection:

All the Stars & Teeth (All the Stars & Teeth #1) by Adalyn Grace

Published February 4th 2020

Set in a kingdom where danger lurks beneath the sea, mermaids seek vengeance with song, and magic is a choice.

She will reign.

As princess of the island kingdom Visidia, Amora Montara has spent her entire life training to be High Animancer — the master of souls. The rest of the realm can choose their magic, but for Amora, it’s never been a choice. To secure her place as heir to the throne, she must prove her mastery of the monarchy’s dangerous soul magic.

When her demonstration goes awry, Amora is forced to flee. She strikes a deal with Bastian, a mysterious pirate: he’ll help her prove she’s fit to rule, if she’ll help him reclaim his stolen magic.

But sailing the kingdom holds more wonder — and more peril — than Amora anticipated. A destructive new magic is on the rise, and if Amora is to conquer it, she’ll need to face legendary monsters, cross paths with vengeful mermaids, and deal with a stow-away she never expected… or risk the fate of Visidia and lose the crown forever.

I am the right choice. The only choice. And I will protect my kingdom.

All the Stars and Teeth is a duology that I was going to read last year, but I decided to wait until the final novel, All the Tides of Fate, was released this year. It is a case of time and memory as I could not remember to start these novels when I had the time and then I remembered them when I had none. It is an endless cycle that does not always apply to books, but now that I have both novels in audiobook form, I am hopeful that I will not only finish them, but also enjoy them. I have heard a lot of mixed reviews about each novel separately and for the duology as a set, so I am curious to see how it actually turns out for me.
