~ Goodreads Monday: These Feathered Flames ~

This is a weekly meme where any one can choose a random book from their Goodreads TBR and highlight it. Once you choose a book and create your post, make sure you link and reference the creator, @Lauren’s Page Turners. Eventually, I will try to find a rhyme or reason to my choices, but for now, each week will feature a random one that I mean to read soon!

This Week’s Selection:

These Feathered Flames (These Feathered Flames #1) by Alexandra Overy

Published April 20th 2021

When twin heirs are born in Tourin, their fates are decided at a young age. While Izaveta remained at court to learn the skills she’d need as the future queen, Asya was taken away to train with her aunt, the mysterious Firebird, who ensured magic remained balanced in the realm.

But before Asya’s training is completed, the ancient power blooms inside her, which can mean only one thing: the queen is dead, and a new ruler must be crowned.

As the princesses come to understand everything their roles entail, they’ll discover who they can trust, who they can love—and who killed their mother.

These Feathered Flames is a retelling of the Russian folktale, “The Firebird.” Although I have not read the original, I am always curious about retellings. This novel was just published last month and I’ve heard great things about it overall. I thought about requesting and ARC for this novel or even trying to participate on a blog tour, but time got away from me and I missed my window. I believe my library just got a few copies of this novel as an audiobook, so I have added my name to the waitlist and will attempt to listen to it once I receive it on my loans shelf.

  1. I’ve never read the original folktale either but this sounds really good and I’ve also heard great things about it. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts and hope you enjoy it!
