~ Top Ten Tuesday: Deserted Island Reads ~

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

How it works: Each Tuesday will be assigned a topic and then you post your top ten list that fits it. Feel free to add your own spin on the topic to make it work for you! For me, I’m not sure the type of spin I want to put on it, so for now I’ll post fairly straight-forward responses.

I put this month’s topics at the bottom of the post, but you can find the whole list on the host blog. If you don’t have a blog, you’re welcome to participate using other social media or even by putting your list in the comments.

This Week’s Topic: Books I’d Want With Me While Stranded On a Deserted Island

This week’s topic was difficult as there are tons of books that I could go with to take with me. Obviously, I would want survival books, but I did not include those as I wanted my list to be novels instead. Since this list features novels, the survival books can also be brought along without taking away from the 10 book limit. Although there are tons of series that I love, I did not include those on this list as it could end up with only two series for the entire list. There is one novel from a series, but it acts as a standalone. This novel, Love Not at First Sight, also features the two characters surviving in a cave. Another novel, 10 Days, is not a survival book, but the main character is an author who is learning about the wilderness for his next novel while on a camping trip. The other novels are all just fun re-reads that could keep me entertained.

JULY TOPICS:

AUGUST TOPICS:

  • August 3: Titles or Covers That Made Want to Read/Buy the Book
  • August 10: Secondary/Minor Characters Who Deserve More Love
  • August 17: Favorite Places to Read
  • August 24: Books I Wish I Could Read Again for the First Time
  • August 31: Fictional Crushes

Happy fourth and final Tuesday post of July! On a desert island, I would love to have my entire library of books with me, including both my physical books and my ebooks. Of course, I would need my solar charger for my ebook reader, too.

How about you? What book titles would you want while stranded on a desert island? You’re welcome to post them in the comments or even give a link to your list as I would love to read them! Happy Tuesday!

  1. It’s neat to see what others would choose for this topic. And I was interested that you chose two of Madeline Miller’s books. Awesome that she expanded on mythic characters who weren’t necessarily “heroes” to give them a chance to have a larger story. I don’t have a complete list of 10 books in mind, but I’d choose the books that have intimidated me because I feel like I don’t have the focus right now to give them what they deserve: “Don Quixote,” “Infinite Jest,” and “Gravity’s Rainbow.”
