This is a weekly meme where any one can choose a random book from their Goodreads TBR and highlight it. Once you choose a book and create your post, make sure you link and reference the creator, @Lauren’s Page Turners. Eventually, I will try to find a rhyme or reason to my choices, but for now, each week will feature a random one that I mean to read soon!
This Week’s Selection:
Redemptor (Raybearer #2) by Jordan Ifueko
For the first time, an Empress Redemptor sits on Aritsar’s throne. To appease the sinister spirits of the dead, Tarisai must now anoint a council of her own, coming into her full power as a Raybearer. She must then descend into the Underworld, a sacrifice to end all future atrocities.
Tarisai is determined to survive. Or at least, that’s what she tells her increasingly distant circle of friends. Months into her shaky reign as empress, child spirits haunt her, demanding that she pay for past sins of the empire.
With the lives of her loved ones on the line, assassination attempts from unknown quarters, and a handsome new stranger she can’t quite trust . . . Tarisai fears the pressure may consume her. But in this finale to the Raybearer duology, Tarisai must learn whether to die for justice . . . or to live for it.
I actually received this novel in the mail from the publisher and I have heard excellent reviews from those that have read both novels. Right now, this series is set as a duology, so this novel sounds like it will be a great conclusion. Since I am behind the times, I actually need to read the first novel, Raybearer, before I start this one. Luckily, one of my friends had a print copy so I will get to read both in print version. It has been awhile since I have read a print book as I have been doing a lot of ebooks lately, so I am not sure if that will change my enjoyment level. I doubt it will, but we shall see once I get a chance to start both novels. I have high hopes for both and hope that they do not let me down!
