~ #BookBloggerHop: Favorite Spooky Creature & Setting in Books ~

The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer’s permission, Billy @ Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer relaunched the hop on February 15, 2013. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end the following Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to their own blog.

Topic Run Dates: October 8th – 14th, 2021

What spooky creature and/or setting do you never get tired of reading about? (submitted by Nicci @ Sunny Buzzy Books)

This was actually a very difficult choice as I love a lot of “spooky” creatures from vampires to witches and everything in between. I went with ghosts as a few of my last reads, like Under the Whispering Door, featured ghosts. One of my favorite reads from last year, Cemetery Boys, also featured ghosts, so I figured that it would be a good choice for this week’s concept.

For a spooky setting, I was torn between a house and a forest. I went with the forest as there are a lot of possibilities in this setting. With a spooky forest setting, it could be the creepiness of the forest itself, such as Small Favors, to the creatures that live there, such as Forestborn or For the Wolf. There are a lot more novels that all feature a spooky forest, so, for me, this is a setting that I can read about again and again.

How about you? What is your favorite spooky creature or setting?
