For this week, I managed to read and review six novels.
As I am on a short vacation away from everything, the number of novels this week and next are less than my normal amounts. Once I get back, I hope to catch up on my postings, but for now, it is a short time away from all technology as I go camping before it gets too cold.
I completed two ARCs where one was a “sequel” and the other was a standalone. My standalone novel was Within These Wicked Walls, which was a fantastic debut novel and makes me excited to read a lot more from this author! My other ARC Duke, Actually features the two best friends of the main characters from A Princess for Christmas. Both Dani and Max were featured briefly in the first novel and Marie and Leo from the first novel were featured in this one. I love these types of series as they can be read as standalones or collectively as a series.
I completed The Broken Earth trilogy on audiobook, which was a series I had on my TBR for a long time. All three novels were excellent and it is difficult to choose which one I liked the best, although I can at least narrow it down to The Fifth Season and The Stone Sky. While I still greatly loved The Obselisk Gate, it was not quite at the same level, for me, as the other two. My other audiobook was A Touch of Malice. For me, this series does not quite live up to the potential based on the first novel, but I am open to finishing the series. Since the series has four novels planned, I most likely will give the fourth novel a try.
For next week, my plan is to try the Warrior Witch duology with my back-log title, The Frozen Queen, and the ARC, The Seventh Queen. I also hope to try out another series, The Forgotten God, duology with The Midnight Lie and The Hollow Heart. I am not sure if I will get to all four within the next week, but I hope to at least give them a try.
