Goodreads Award Nominations – Romance – Raking My Past Reads

I actually saw this post originally done by Andie at Books, Coffee & Passion who took the 20 nominated novels in the Romance category and ranked the ones that were read. Since I have read multiple in this category, I decided to post my own ranking and create this post as a reminder to myself of ones to read later. This will be a short series as I am only creating posts where I have read enough novels to rank, even though I have read at least one novel in every category.

From the 20 novels in the opening round, I read 13 of them and still have the other seven on my TBR. Since I did not read all of them, my ranking will only include the completed novels. My ranking is based on my rating at the time of the review. If two or more novels have the same rating, then I will choose my favorite based on my memory of the reading experience.

This brings us to my top two novels – The Charm Offensive and Life’s Too Short, which both received the same rating.

Even though I may read at least one of the seven remaining novels before voting ends on November 28th, I actually decided to cast my vote between The Charm Offensive and Life’s Too Short. While Alison Cochrun’s novel is a debut, Abby Jimenez’s novel is the third in the series. I’ve loved every novel in The Friend Zone series, so far, so it made choosing between these two difficult; however, I went by first instinct, which was The Charm Offensive! Therefore, this novel received my vote for this category.

~ MY #1 ROMANCE ~

While this is my initial ranking, it may change based on how much over-thinking I put into selecting a top novel and/or my rating changing based on re-read. Therefore, it was simpler to go based on my initial thoughts only, or I could never rank them or vote for one as I would change my mind every few seconds. Every novel in this category was great, even though I did not rank some of them that high compared to the others. I still have a few novels to go before I complete all twenty, but I have a good feeling that they will turn out well.

Which novel did you vote for (if you did) or did you enjoy the most?
