~ #Bookvent 2021 – Top Reads Countdown Day 7 ~

I came across this on Jen’s blog (Jen Med’s Book Reviews).

This annual countdown goes from December 1st until Christmas with one share per day. In the original challenge, the “rules” were (1)published in 2021 and (2)five-star read with “Red Hot Reads” titles automatically making the list. I kept the 2021 publish year “rule” as I have a lot of recent releases that were amazing. Since I already do my top novels of the year (5 star and sometimes 4.75 stars), I decided to highlight some of my 4.5 star reads as they are still amazing, but often get passed over in my countdowns. The choices are in a semi-random order with some novels that I enjoyed a little more making it a little higher in the countdown.

#Bookvent DAY 7

Choosing You (Nugget #11) by Stacy Finz

Published February 9th 2021

These newcomers to Nugget have left painful pasts behind them—just in time to embrace a future together…

Picturesque Nugget, California, couldn’t be more different than the glittering caverns of Manhattan, but Brynn Barnes is grateful for the change. After the accident that took her husband’s life and seriously injured her young son Henry’s legs, a clinical trial from a pioneering young doctor offers Brynn hope that Henry may walk again. And even as the magnificent landscape and the town’s hospitality help mend Brynn’s broken spirit, it’s a certain handsome surgeon’s compassion that soothes her aching heart…

Reeling after a bitter divorce, Ethan Daniels has brought his medical practice and his young daughter to Nugget, where he hopes its homey warmth will ease the transition to a family of two. A new relationship is the last thing he should be thinking about. But Ethan can’t help his immediate attraction to beautiful Brynn — or the feelings she’s awakening in him. For two people battered by life’s cruelest blows, love may be the perfect prescription…

MY REVIEW

The Nugget Romance series is described to be about a “small mountain town that has a strange way of giving people unexpected reasons to start over – and find the most irresistible chances to fall in love.” In this story, two single parents come together. The novel takes a single mother traveling to find medical assistance for her son and becomes closer with his doctor, who also is a single father. I absolutely loved how the single parent was portrayed as every decision that they make involves their child and not just themselves so it takes more thought compared to only thinking about yourself. As this story centers around a small town, there is the additional togetherness of the community that made it a very enjoyable read.

Happy Holidays and Happy Reading!
