Welcome to my 2nd annual Bookvent Countdown!
This annual countdown goes from December 1st until Christmas with one share per day (like an advent calendar). Rules: (1) Published in 2022 and (2)a five-star read
Similar to last year, I am slightly following the two rules. My 25-book countdown will still only include those novels published in 2022, but they will range in rating from 4.25 to 5. This year I am trying to create my posts early for this series as December is busy with my other reading challenges plus life in general, so it will only include reads from January to November. I have a final end-of-year top reads annual list, so any December reads will most likely be included there.
#Bookvent DAY 5
Hollywood Games (Kinloch #2) by Evie Alexander
Brace yourself Scotland, Hollywood’s coming…
Rory’s found the love of his life but can he be sure Zoe feels the same? What can he offer her when his job’s on the line, and his mother’s out to destroy her? When Hollywood superstar, Brad Bauer, shows up wanting to film Braveheart 2 at Kinloch castle, it seems like the answer to all his prayers. However, there’s a catch.
Zoe’s had a crush on Brad since she was a teen. Now he’s here, hotter than ever, and convinced he was married to her in a past life. As Hollywood descends on the tiny village of Kinloch, it’s not just the castle that’s under siege.
A mystical holy man, a sexy starlet, an intense megastar and a couple pushed to the edge. Can Rory navigate the glitter storm and keep his eye on the prize, or by saving the estate, is he about to lose the best thing that’s ever happened to him?
Hollywood Games is a steamy, love conquers all, laugh-out-loud romantic comedy, with no cheating, no cliffhangers, and a guaranteed happy ever after (HEA). It can be read as a standalone but is most enjoyed after reading Highland Games.
When Hollywood meets the Highlands, things will never be the same again…
While this novel could technically be read as a standalone, it read to me like an extended epilogue to the first novel. This gave me some trepidation before beginning because I was unsure how it would turn out. Luckily, I was pleasantly surprised and this felt like a warm hug as there was a nice familiarity to the story and characters. As there is a movie being filmed within the story, it was fun to have some of those scenes integrated into the main writing. Not only was this story a great way to revisit the couple from the first novel there was a great introduction to the potential couple for the next installment. This was a standout as the balance between the two couples was nicely done without feeling forced.
