~ #SixForSunday: Rollercoaster Series ~

#SixforSunday is… it’s really just that. You choose 6 books (normally) that you’d choose to fit whatever the prompt is that week. This meme was created and is hosted by A Little but a Lot.

This week’s prompt: Rollercoaster Series (Series that either started strong/weak and ended the opposite)

**This week’s topic was my own.**

**My choices are in no particular order. You can click on their covers to explore their Goodreads entries.**

As the only daughter of a powerful merchant, Cassandra is betrothed to Marcus, the most eligible bachelor in the city. But then she meets Devyn, the boy with the strange midnight eyes searching for a girl with magic in her blood. A boy who will make her believe in soulmates… When a mysterious sickness starts to leech the life from citizens with Celtic power lying dormant in their veins, the imperial council sets their schemes in motion. And so Cassandra must make a choice: the Code or Chaos, science or sorcery, Marcus or Devyn?

2. Serpent and Dove (Serpent & Dove #1) – [Review] – Started high and ended low

Published September 3, 2019

Bound as one to love, honor, or burn. Two years ago, Louise le Blanc fled her coven and took shelter in the city of Cesarine, forsaking all magic and living off whatever she could steal. There, witches like Lou are hunted. They are feared. And they are burned. Sworn to the Church as a Chasseur, Reid Diggory has lived his life by one principle: thou shalt not suffer a witch to live. His path was never meant to cross with Lou’s, but a wicked stunt forces them into an impossible union—holy matrimony. The war between witches and Church is an ancient one, and Lou’s most dangerous enemies bring a fate worse than fire. Unable to ignore her growing feelings, yet powerless to change what she is, a choice must be made. And love makes fools of us all.

Wrath claims to be on Emilia’s side, tasked by his master with solving the series of women’s murders on the island. But when it comes to the Wicked, nothing is as it seems…

4. Fireborne (Aurelian Cycle #1) – [Review] – Started low and ended high

Now they are both rising stars in the new regime, despite backgrounds that couldn’t be more different. Annie’s lowborn family was executed by dragonfire, while Lee’s aristocratic family was murdered by revolutionaries. Growing up in the same orphanage forged their friendship, and seven years of training have made them rivals for the top position in the dragonriding fleet. But everything changes when survivors from the old regime surface, bent on reclaiming the city. With war on the horizon and his relationship with Annie changing fast, Lee must choose to kill the only family he has left or to betray everything he’s come to believe in. And Annie must decide whether to protect the boy she loves . . . or step up to be the champion her city needs.

Thank you for reading my Sunday post for May!

The last set of topics by the creator, I believe, were from April of 2023, so I ended up making my own list of topics ever since.

All six series were not terrible, but they had novels, either at the beginning or the end that just didn’t work for me. I may try all six series in the future just to see if I had the same thoughts, but, for now, some had great beginnings and other had great endings instead of both.

How did you interpret this week’s topic?
