Last year, I read and reviewed one novel before July 1st and one novel after. Both are actually novels by Sophie Kinsella as my friend gave me both for this new-to-me (at the time) author. I Owe You One was read and reviewed on June 30, 2020. My (Not So) Perfect Life was read and reviewed on July 2, 2020. Although none of the novels have been perfect, I continue to love the ease of the author’s writing and the enjoyable stories she creates.

I read and reviewed The Ice Swan earlier today for my July 1st review. This novel was a surprise hit with me as it was a great read that also coincided with aligning with my mood readings.

All three novels were read and reviewed on July 1st. The two novels that I read and reviewed last year are modern/contemporary novels while my read for this year is historical.

All three novels contain tales of romance and have many moments of humor throughout the writing. As for the romance, each couple meets in a circumstantial meeting, which all were unique to fit each story. All the characters also go through some growth in one way or another in the three novels.

The settings and styles are the main differences. Although all three novels are easy reads, my read for this year has a prose quality to the writing that is not present in either read for last year.

Even though I love Sophie Kinsella novels, if I had to choose one of the three as a favorite, it would be The Ice Swan.
