~ #SixForSunday: Character Swap ~

#SixforSunday is… it’s really just that. You choose 6 books (normally) that you’d choose to fit whatever the prompt is that week. This meme is hosted by A Little but a Lot and you can follow the link to find the prompts for January to March. I’ll also post this month’s prompt’s at the end of the post.

August’s theme is The School Month!

This week’s prompt: Characters you’d like to swap lives with

**My choices are in no particular order. You can click on their covers to explore their Goodreads entries.**

1. Men Are Frogs (Fairy Godmother’s, Inc. #2)

Published July 27th 2021

Zuri – Ever After is a magical location with some real world conveniences. She stays in a magic castle plus becomes part of the fairy tale world, so she would be an excellent character to swap with.

SOMETIMES YOU’RE THE CURSE . . .

Disgraced wedding planner Zuri Davis is so relieved to be offered a job with Fairy Godmothers, Inc., she’s willing to trade the high-rise excitement of Chicago for the small-town charm of Ever After. Falling for one of her grooms, even unintentionally, was enough to destroy her career–and also to prove that all men are indeed frogs. But when she meets gorgeous B&B owner Phillip Charming, who definitely lives up to his name, even she is tempted to test that theory . . .

AND SOMETIMES YOU’RE THE CURE

Three hundred years as a frog by day and himself by night, is enough to test any man’s patience–even if Phillip knows he deserved Petunia’s curse. It certainly taught him not to mess around when it comes to making promises. And stubborn, proud Zuri is a woman he’d like to promise his heart and everything else to–if only he weren’t a sometimes-frog. Can he hope for True Love’s Kiss from a woman whose trust has been so thoroughly broken?

2. If the Shoe Fits (Meant to Be #1)

Published August 3rd 2021

Cindy – This is another fairy tale pick that is set in the real world. While I am on the fence about being a part of a reality dating show, I love a ton of about Cindy’s life that it would be worth a fun swap.

After having just graduated with a degree in shoe design, and trying to get her feet on the ground, Cindy is working for her stepmother, who happens to be the executive producer of America’s favorite reality show, Before Midnight. When a spot on the show needs filling ASAP, Cindy volunteers, hoping it might help jump-start her fashion career, or at least give her something to do while her peers land jobs in the world of high fashion.

Turns out being the only plus size woman on a reality dating competition makes a splash, and soon Cindy becomes a body positivity icon for women everywhere. What she doesn’t expect? That she may just find inspiration—and love—in the process. Ultimately, Cindy learns that if the shoe doesn’t fit, maybe it’s time to design your own.

3. To Love and to Loathe (Regency Vows #2)

Published April 6th 2021

Diana – The Regency Era comes with a lot of rules, but still looks like it would interesting to try. As Diana is a widow, she would be ideal as a swap would not involve being placed in the pressures to get married.

The widowed Diana, Lady Templeton and Jeremy, Marquess of Willingham are infamous among English high society as much for their sharp-tongued bickering as their flirtation. One evening, an argument at a ball turns into a serious wager: Jeremy will marry within the year or Diana will forfeit one hundred pounds. So shortly after, just before a fortnight-long house party at Elderwild, Jeremy’s country estate, Diana is shocked when Jeremy appears at her home with a very different kind of proposition.

After his latest mistress unfavorably criticized his skills in the bedroom, Jeremy is looking for reassurance, so he has gone to the only woman he trusts to be totally truthful. He suggests that they embark on a brief affair while at the house party—Jeremy can receive an honest critique of his bedroom skills and widowed Diana can use the gossip to signal to other gentlemen that she is interested in taking a lover.

Diana thinks taking him up on his counter-proposal can only help her win her wager. With her in the bedroom and Jeremy’s marriage-minded grandmother, the formidable Dowager Marchioness of Willingham, helping to find suitable matches among the eligible ladies at Elderwild, Diana is confident her victory is assured. But while they’re focused on winning wagers, they stand to lose their own hearts.

4. Life’s a Beach

Published May 6th 2021

Peach – First, I love her job as a secret shopper! Second, I love her story and there’s the bonus of a trip to Italy.

Sun, sea and inescapable exes…

Peach is excited to hear that her sister, Di, is getting married. Of course, she would have preferred her little sister to be engaged to someone she’s known longer than a week – and the fact that his name is Charles doesn’t bode well – but who is she to judge?! After all, her own love life is non-existent, and who doesn’t love a destination wedding…?

Whisked away to the gorgeous Italian coast, Peach assumes her role as chief bridesmaid and, despite her reservations about the groom, she tries to ensure everything goes to plan.

But weddings are never straightforward affairs… throw in some unexpected guests in the form of ex-boyfriends and one night stands, and soon enough there is more drama than a reality tv show

Can Peach keep the show on the road, or might she end up in a whirlwind romance of her own…?

5. To Kill a Kingdom

Published March 6th 2018

Lira – She is a siren who meets a Prince, who is also a pirate. While her mother is not my favorite, I enjoy her adventure and would not mind swapping.

Princess Lira is siren royalty and the most lethal of them all. With the hearts of seventeen princes in her collection, she is revered across the sea. Until a twist of fate forces her to kill one of her own. To punish her daughter, the Sea Queen transforms Lira into the one thing they loathe most–a human. Robbed of her song, Lira has until the winter solstice to deliver Prince Elian’s heart to the Sea Queen and or remain a human forever.

The ocean is the only place Prince Elian calls home, even though he is heir to the most powerful kingdom in the world. Hunting sirens is more than an unsavory hobby–it’s his calling. When he rescues a drowning woman in the ocean, she’s more than what she appears. She promises to help him find the key to destroying all of sirenkind for good–But can he trust her? And just how many deals will Elian have to barter to eliminate mankind’s greatest enemy?

6. Spellbound(Embracing Darkness Collection)

Published September 3rd 2021

Elle – While I am not sure that I would survive in this world with my real world skillset, I would still love to have Elle’s life as it is full of a lot of adventure and magic.

Grieving being torn from her beloved sister, who remained behind in the human kingdom, Elle makes it her life purpose to become a keeper in her cursekeeper coven.

But this calling won’t be an easy one.

The magic possessed by her small coven of four casts them as outsiders throughout the kingdom. Yet when witches are found murdered in the woods, the cursekeepers quickly become the town’s only hope.

Many believe the murders are the work of a god. An old one returned in search of vengeance. Elle, on the other hand, suspects Viktor, the new warlock to town, is somehow linked to the violent deaths. However, his agenda doesn’t stop there.

Infiltrating her coven. Charming everyone around him. Threatening her plans to become a keeper. This rivalry quickly becomes personal.

When the truth behind the murders surfaces, Elle finds herself thrust into a dangerous new world, trapped between twisted hearts and terrifying beings. With the victims piling up, she must decide who to trust and who to protect before it’s too late.

September – The School Month

Thank you for reading my second Sunday post for September!

There are a lot of others that I would love to do, such as become a wizard in the Harry Potter universe, be a part of the Fellowship of the Ring, or even a ballerina in Kisses and Croissants. It is difficult to narrow down all the possibilities to just six choices. I went with some real world, some in fantasy, and some that were a mix of the two worlds. Pretty much my goal to switch is to do something out of the ordinary that I definitely could never accomplish in my actual life.

How did you interpret this week’s topic? Feel free to sound off in the comments as I also explore around to check out everyone else’s lists!
