I actually came across Lucy’s blog (Book Blogger) where she created a “Series Saturday” monthly feature post. Each month she chooses one series to feature whether it is one that is completed or one that is still in progress. As I have tons of series that fit both of those categories, I decided to try out this type of post myself. I am very excited to put posts together for one series per month. I may update it to another timeline, but, for now, I am going to do this monthly.
This month’s series is:
BEWITCHING FAIRY TALES
About the Series –
While each novel in the series can be read as a standalone, there is a central theme and style. Some of the characters from other novels can play a secondary role in a story. The author combines different elements from different fairy tales to create a unique retelling rather than going with a straight retelling of one story.
Why I Chose This Series –
While I actually have only read the first three novels in the series, the stories do still stand out in my mind. I do not have an explanation as this was a new-to-me author, but I did not go into it with extremely high expectations as I was a little unsure of the style, however, it did not take long for me to be captivated by the story and characters. Stalks of Gold (#1) started off as a simple tale that turned into a complex adventure. Mirrors of Ice (#2) continued with the same simple story that became complex by the end style and cemented this as a great series for me. I loved that the author’s style carried into the third novel, Beasts of Beauty, where there is a large mix of light-hearted and emotional moments. As I still have more to go in the series, I cannot wait to read the next ones soon!
Have you read the Bewitching Fairy Tales series or is it on your TBR?
If so, what did you think of the novel(s)?
